In this first event “IKT risk management” we present basic options for practical implementation of IKT risk management in order to meet DORA's requirements regarding the first pillar of “IKT risk management”.
In ServiceNow, we address the following aspects and show how risks can be effectively managed and audited using audit management:
- Management has overall responsibility for IKT risk management.
- Financial companies must transfer responsibility for IKT risk management to an independent control function, which must have an appropriate level of independence. The IKT risk management framework must be reviewed at least once a year.
- IKT risk management must be audited regularly (internal. revision).
- Financial firms must have a comprehensive and well-documented IKT risk management framework. This framework must include at least the following elements:
- Strategies, principles, procedures, IKT protocols and tools to assess, manage and monitor IKT risks.
- Mechanisms to prevent, identify and manage IKT incidents, including response and recovery
- Communication strategies for IKT-related incidents.
- Resources and capacities: Financial firms must have sufficient resources and capacities to implement the IKT risk management framework.
- Backup, recovery, and recovery: Financial companies must establish data backup and recovery procedures to ensure the resilience of their IKT systems and the protection of their data.
