Martin Vogl

Senior Consultant

“What I like about exccon is the flexibility, the professional orientation and the colleagues.”

You actually have an apprenticeship as a banker — so why did you end up in the IT sector? And how did you join Exccon?

During my training as a banker, I had initial experience with IT and decided to start studying in order to continue my education in this area. My curiosity was piqued, I had seen that there were still more things to discover. In addition, the rigid hierarchies in the bank were too restrictive for me and the IT systems were too outdated, which also motivated me to start my studies and leave the bank. I already knew exccon as a consulting firm for IT service management. Since I had worked in this area myself for many years and exccon has very good know-how in this area, I applied here.

What did you do before joining exccon?

Before joining exccon, I worked in service management for many years and worked as a system engineer, service manager, change manager and process owner and thus practically lived out many roles from ITIL.

What was the best decision in your career?

To start my computer science studies after my banking apprenticeship and to always take on a new challenge and change my job at the right time.

What do you like about Exccon? What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I like about exccon is its flexibility, professional orientation and colleagues. What I particularly like about my team/colleagues is the respectful interaction with each other, the know-how and the fact that everyone is always there for each other. What I enjoy about my job is to define clear responsibilities and create transparency.

Describe Exccon in three words!

Competent — agile - solution-oriented

You are employed at exxcon as a senior consultant. Can you tell us a bit more about what you're doing? What does someone need to bring to do your job?

I manage junior consultants and help them in their personal development. I lead teams in customer projects and develop solutions and new products. This job requires a lot of experience, empathy, good comprehension and the will to change.

What benefits do you see in working from home. And: How does the company manage to convey a sense of team, even when employees are working from home?

When I work from home, I appreciate the fact that the long journey to the office is no longer necessary and that I have the opportunity to retreat to prepare for customer appointments. We have a meeting every morning where we discuss current project topics and private topics. In this way, we always have a good connection with each other and can easily “ratchet” together and get rid of what hinders, bothers us or really like us. This gives us a good feeling for the start of the day and creates a good team spirit.
