How did you experience your start at exccon?

I had a very positive start. I quickly received support from my mentor, who helped me understand the company, our way of working and the new environment. My first project was also a good introduction because I had the space to learn and complete my tasks without unnecessary stress. After about a month, I attended my first Town Hall in Frankfurt and met many colleagues in person. I was impressed that employees were actively invited to share ideas. One idea we discussed was a format for exchanging technical knowledge. This later became the Knowledge Bites, which are now a valuable platform for sharing experience and solving technical questions together.

What do you value most about exccon?

First and foremost, I value the flexibility. I can do my work in the way that helps me deliver my best results, without unnecessary pressure. I also appreciate the expertise within the team. My colleagues have strong ServiceNow knowledge, and when an issue arises, we discuss it openly and find a good solution together.

How do you balance family and career?

For me as a mother, working from home and having flexibility during the day are extremely valuable. I feel that exccon understands the realities of family life and respects the responsibilities of both mothers and fathers.

What are the biggest advantages of remote work for you?

The biggest advantage is that I do not lose time commuting. My office is only a few steps away, and I can use the time I save for my family, exercise or other important things. Remote work also makes location much less important. I live in Düsseldorf and work with colleagues connected to Munich and other locations, while communication remains excellent. At the same time, I really value our in-person events because they strengthen the personal connection within the team.

What does someone need to succeed as a ServiceNowDeveloper?

A solid foundation is essential. The CSA certification is an important first step, and a good understanding of ITSM helps you understand the processes that appear across many ServiceNow projects. Beyond technical knowledge, patience, concentration and enjoyment of focused work are important. You should be comfortable analysing a problem carefully rather than rushing to a quick answer.

What helps you switch off after work?

After spending much of theday concentrating at my computer, I enjoy connecting with my family and friends. Music and sport help me create a goodbalance. I also enjoy making crochet items for my children in my free time. Working with my hands helps me slow down, top thinking about technical problems and give my mind a real break.

How do you experience being a woman in IT at exccon?

There are still not many women working as developers, but at exccon I feel completely accepted in my role. Tasks are assigned based on knowledge and experience, not gender. I also appreciate that parents are respected and supported. As long as the work gets done, there is understanding when someone needs flexibility for their family. That creates an environment in which people can contribute professionally without having to hide an important part of their lives.
